winter gear

With the first official snowfall of the season, it has left the trees and ground covered with a white blanket of snow, but the roads into a frozen skating rink!  take it slow out there! My crab apple tree in the backyard has robins all puffed up plucking a few frozen berries to fill them up for their long flight to somewhere a lot warmer. So although I wont be embracing the winter that has started way to early, it is more of building up a tolerance for the long cold months ahead.

friday links

The last week of October will be upon us soon, and with all the excitement of Halloween next week, the uptown olds committee has put together a zombie stomp. There is something for all ages this sat, oct 26 3pm-8pm in the uptown core.

I couldn't resist this link that a friend had posted on facebook - a funny version of keeping up appearances

Ok, this really made me think, had no idea that kids would be this sad when their candy is eaten by their parents! the little girl at the end will steal your heart

Friday links

Somehow short weeks after a long weekend can feel like they never end! Trying to do all the usually things in four days instead of five is no easy task.

So welcome to Friday!

With the upcoming municipal elections this Monday, Oct 21, I came across these two links. Living where we do, having the right to vote is a privilege. We are fortunate to speak up, discuss and have our voices heard. Sometimes we may not agree with council decisions because we don't all value the same things. At election time it is important to listen to what the candidates have to say and cast your vote wisely.

There is much wisdom in both of these links today.

Seasons change

The weekend was so beautiful, with the weather  holding turning it into a fall of glorious colors!

It always surprises me as how fast the seasons change, we hold onto the end of summer with all we have, and embrace fall but...

Get ready as snow is just around the corner, time to cozy up with coats, boots, and scarves
